The Haven List

The design goal was to dress down a traditional colonial for casual-living empty nesters. Architect Mark Larson opened up the kitchen and rearranged the three bathrooms for better flow. We created a neutral envelope and infused it with casual texture and classic fittings, then livened it up with patterned wallpaper and unexpected lighting. A smattering of french country antiques and inherited carved-wood pieces bridge the formality of the architecture and ease of the family living here.

“Friends comment that we did a beautiful job of staying true to the character of the home (formal, traditional) AND the character of our family (practical, comfortable, not formal). We never would have gotten there on our own and are thrilled with the end result.”
