Heather's Wish List 2020
I have to admit, I wonder if wish lists are tone deaf in this year that has meant hardship for so many. Ultimately, I think what we want can be an interesting document of the times. I saw and Amazon commercial during the dog show yesterday that shared the way our online orders have changed as we sunk deeper into this pandemic and I must admit I teared up a bit.
I also figure that these wish lists can serve in some small way as gift guides (with very specific perspectives!) I already got a couple of good idea’s from Lauren’s last week!
Here’s are some of the tangible goods I am wishing for this year as my birthday and Christmas approach.
Clothing and Accessories
Veda Max Classic leather jacket.
My friend and client Sara has this and it is perfect. Feels like something one obtains in one’s 40s and keeps forever.
Ann Erickson statement earrings
I saw these pieces at the Craft Bash last year (check it out online this year) and fell in love with the modern organic vibe and lightweight hand hammered metals. Turns out the ones I pictured have since sold out, but I am also loving these, these, these and these!
Hermes Apple Watch
Yeas ago, my very chic office mate at Creative Time had an hermes watch with this wrap band and ever since I must admit I have coveted it. My fitbit is out of service so a smartwatch is in play; only problem is I am fully android so an apple watch would upset the whole system. Still considering it though.
Home Goods
Plaster Vases
I love anything plaster-ish and sculptural for the Studio. From Jayson Home. Definitely not a “need” but I love them!
Missoni Hand towels
Another consistent favorite! Years ago my parents brought me home a scarf from the Missoni factory in Italy, and I found a Missoni skirt at Century 21. A couple of years ago my Missoni dreams came true on a bigger scale when I installed one of their carpets as a stair runner at home. Lauren sourced these hand towels for a project but I want them for my house!
Mr. Brown Pablo Side Table
More plaster! And I love anything with feet (or the suggestion of feet). This would be for the studio. I actually bought something else at more of a bargain price, but I will always love this guy (which I used in friend/client Sara’s house in San Francisco!)
Pleated Printed Lampshade
For the studio. There are various sources for these lately, but the brown print on this one from Bunny Williams is perfect for my mostly brown and cream scheme. OF course buying lampshades online is tricky as you really need to see it on the lamp!
Cloth Napkins
Also for the studio! Totally unnecesarry (how would we wash them?) but totally fun. I stocked the kitchenette with wine glasses, so obviously I am having some post-Covid entertaining fantasies.
Design Books
A perrennial want. I always have a list going.
Kabinett and Kammer: Creating Authentic Interiors
Authenticity is one of our core values and I love design books that celebrate the unique and the idiosynchratic. Also a fan of books where designer’s share their process. This one is about applying concepts from 2-D art to home design. Fun!
Golden Light: The Interior Design of Nickey Kehoe
I fell in love with this duo over a brown house published years ago in Elle Decor. When I went to LA design hunting a few years back, their shop was top of my list. Can’t wait to see how their aesthetic has developed.
Design Commune
I have the first book from this California-based dream team and honestly they just keep getting better!
Repeat Offenders (Not pictured)
Also into these second books from designers (I have all of their first books!): Abigail Ahearn, Katie Ridder, Markham Roberts
What are you wishing for this year? Happy Shopping!
